There’s so much to say about Barry Manilow’s last show in Las Vegas, it’s taken me over a week to put this article together. Anyone who knows me can confirm - to their dismay :) - I’m rarely at a loss for words, but this time I’ve struggled with appropriately giving voice to the palpable emotion of the evening. How do you explain feeling? How do I express heartfelt gratitude for not only this show, but all the one’s before it? In the end I’ve decided to write it the only way I know how, from the heart. I apologize for it’s length, sometimes a few words just won’t do!

It would have been a daunting and nerve shaking task for the most seasoned professional to captivate an audience of fifteen-hundred people, all there to see Barry Manilow’s second to final performance in Las Vegas.

I wish every aspiring entertainer - and even some who have already made it - would attend Barry Manilow’s show. It’s there they’ll witness what it means to be an authentic, classy and consummate performer; a musician at his best! One who needs nothing more than his splendid talent, to capture an audience of fifteen hundred or fifteen thousand from the moment he enters the stage, until the moment he leaves.

As always Barry Manilow’s shows at the Paris in Las Vegas were phenominal. But before I tell you about them, I want to tell you why this weekend was especially, special.

I was more excited than usual attending Barry Manilow’s show last Friday at the Paris Hotel in Las Vegas; because I knew he’d added the opening song from his new original album “15 Minutes”. Because of that excitement and because the album is at the top of every-one’s mind, I’m going to start with that portion of the show.

Janet Fauret arrived in Las Vegas yesterday after her trans-Atlantic journey from France. Of course her first evening there was spent at Barry Manilow’s show at the Paris! In spite of jet lag and all the things about traveling that can take it’s toll, she had a fabulous time.

From the moment when April turns into May each year, schools pack in every event known to man before the doors close for a much-needed summer break. For that reason, my life as Mom has been very busy. Add a birthday party for my soon-to-be 14-year-old before his friends disperse on family vacations, working to get my business off the ground (a profit would be nice!) and writing non-stop because I love to and feel deprived if I don’t…in a word, I’m TIRED!

Barry Manilow always says he wants to be remembered for making people feel. He's accomplished that millions of times over, because within his magnificent voice is his heart! What follows below are the memories of my friend and “foreign correspondent,” Janet from France, after the final show at the O2 arena in London last week. She shared what Barry said in reference to his voice being a bit strained, perhaps due to fatigue, change in weather, or emotion. He didn’t falter or give less; in fact, he gave more—so much more, I believe, than any other performer would.

It’s often difficult to describe the essence of Barry Manilow: what it is that makes me and millions like me keep going back for more, what’s made him stand the test of time for close to four decades at the top of the entertainment industry with little media attention or top-of-mind submersion of PR. How is that many men and women attend his show in Las Vegas, just because they’re there, knowing little more than, “He’s the guy who sang Mandy back in the 70’s, right?” Yet because he’s so astounding and impressive, they leave the show asking, “How long is he here for? We have to come back!”
