Instrument’s stolen from California High Schools

CA schools have been the target of disgusting robberies with thieves stealing musical instruments.

This weekend Palm Springs High School was hit. A guitar, electric bass and the choir room lap-top was stolen. Fortunately the Palm Springs police department arrived within minutes or it could have been much worse.

Being a parent and a board member for two of the arts booster clubs, within the school district, I know how hard kids, teachers and parents work in organizing fund raisers for the materials, trips and events that benefit our kids.

As you know Barry Manilow launched the Manilow Music Project in 2008 at Palm Springs High School. Through the project Barry has generously donated hundreds of thousands dollars worth in instruments and financial support to schools all over the country in an effort to keep music programs alive and thriving in public schools.

But Barry can’t do it alone, we all need to help which is why we’ve created the “One Voice Project” on Facebook to help bring awareness to The Manilow Music Project and to hopefully have many of Barry’s devoted fans contribute to replacing the instruments Barry already donated that have now been stolen from schools.

I spoke to my dear friend, Brian Ingelson, the band director at Palm Springs high. Of course he’s devastated as are the rest of us saying “who steals from kids”. On his own behalf and that of those involved, he’s grateful for any help they receive.

Please visit the Manilow Music Project web-site, contact your local schools, and If you’d like to assist Palm Springs High School. Please send tax deductible donations to:

Randy Vaughn President PSIMB Palm Springs High School 2401 E. Baristo Rd. Palm Springs, CA 92262

Thank you for your support.
