I love what Barry says about calling any music we choose to listen to “a guilty pleasure” and defending what an insult it is to a musician.
As an admirer of Barry Manilow’s music as well as other great artists. I’m personally annoyed when people say it’s their guilty pleasure, refer to it as my “guilty pleasure” or call themselves “closet fans”.
I’m proud of the phenomenal music of Manilow and share my admiration loud and proud with everyone. There is no shame in being true to what you like, far more shame and effort in hiding your own truth.
