Many of you have enjoyed ‘Barry Manilow: In the Swing of Christmas’ a beautiful compilation of holiday songs as only Barry can arrange, produce and perform them. If you haven’t heard it, pick up the cd this holiday season, you won’t be sorry!
One of the groups accompanying Barry on several of the songs is The Matt Herskowitz Trio, also and/or formerly known as MadFusion. The trio is comprised of three talented and accomplished musicians who individually and as a group have written and performed far too many wonderful pieces to serve justice to here.
Drummer; David Rozenblatt - a terrific young man who my sons and I have had the pleasure of becoming friends with - is a percussionist with Barry Manilow’s shows at the Paris in Las Vegas as well as Barry’s rare concerts around the world.
On Sunday, September 19th the New York launch of ‘Jerusalem Trilogy’ will be held at Le Poisson Rouge in New York City. The trio will perform music from ‘Jerusalem Trilogy’ as well as pieces from Matt’s ‘Schumann’ and ‘Chopin’ arrangements. If you are in or around New York that evening don’t miss this show. Tickets can be purchased by visiting Matt’s website above or clicking here.
You have to hear them to appreciate their uniquely extraordinary sound. Words fail to give an appropriate description. Back in 2007 when I first took notice to this group after reading some wonderful things Barry Manilow said about them, I wrote a note (the title of the message was ‘If Not For Barry’) stating I found theirs a wonderful blend of classic with modern - jazz, contemporary, classical all in one. Their music continue to amaze me.
John (son) saw Matt in concert a couple years ago. All he could say was wow, incredible, his hands never leave the piano. He also saw a portion of ‘Othello’ a ballet with music composed by David, also amazing. Of course David has his own cheering section when we see him showcased while performing with Barry.
Bass player Mat Fieldes is also exceptional in his talents.
With the creativity of their works and performances together and individually, I have no idea where they get the energy for their non-stop schedule. Proves when you love what you do, there are no boundaries.
You can order their cds and get the latest news about show dates and appearances by visiting any of the web-sites above. You can also visit YouTube.com to hear some of their fabulous work.
I’m delighted John will be attending the show on Sunday. No doubt it will be a fantastic evening and he’ll have some great feedback for me and perhaps some photos to share. I wish I were in NY that day, if the show runs past midnight I could have a drink to celebrate the beginning of another year of me getting younger:)
